Madrid is a city I have always wanted to visit, so when a friend asked me if I wanted to go with her, I jumped at the chance! We stayed in a small, simple Airbnb in the beautiful and rustic Latin Quarter of Madrid, which was easy walking distance to all the main attractions, such as Gran Via, the Prado Museum, Retiro Park and Plaza Mayor. The Latin Quarter is the perfect location for a few days in the city, due to its location away from the hustle and bustle, bounty of bars and restaurants and residential status, which means you really get to enjoy feeling like a local! Not only that but the buildings are beautiful and make for great photos.
It was a laid back few days, eating and drinking our way around the city, and I enjoyed putting some photography tips to the test to capture some great photos of Madrid. We visited the beautiful Plaza Mayor square, shopped on the popular Gran Via and strolled around Retiro Park to take in Palacio de Cristal del Retiro (Crystal Palace). And in between sight-seeing, we enjoyed stuffing our faces with plenty of churros, tapas and Rioja!
