Greeks love food! And the Corfiots are no different. So it makes sense that Corfu has a plethora of amazing family run tavernas and beachside restaurants serving traditional home-cooked Greek food. But with so many to choose from, it can be difficult to cherrypick the best places to eat in Corfu. On top of that, you don’t always know which restaurants have the best reputation or which dishes you will enjoy most, especially on your first visit.
But fear not, because we have sampled the best of what Corfu has to offer, all in aid of providing you with a fool-proof guide of where and what to eat. So, if you’re visiting Corfu in the near future for a foodie holiday, read on for my recommendations on my favourite places to eat on the Greek island of Corfu.
Yialos Beach Bar, Paleokastritsa
One of our favourite restaurants in Paleokastritsa is Yialos, formerly known as Smurfs! The food here is some of the best we have tried and, with the restaurant front situated right on Agios Spyridon Beach, the view isn’t bad either! You’ll enjoy gorgeous sunsets in the evening with a laid-back, beacky atmosphere. This is one of the larger restaurants in the area, as opposed to being a quaint, family-run place but the vibe here is chilled and friendly. The waiters are super friendly and accommodating and we always look forward to saying hi every year when we return.
Recommeded dish from Yialos: Mussels Saganaki
Dolphin Taverna, Paleokastritsa
Another one of the best places to eat in Paleokastritsa is Dolphin Taverna. This beautiful, family-run taverna is situated off the road and you would be forgiven for not even knowing it was there. It’s because of the seclusion and the jaw-dropping views across the bay, that we love it so much. The food is always excellent and the staff are friendly, welcoming and polite! It’s worth noting that there are a lot of steps to get down to the restaurant, so something to be aware of if your mobility is limited.
Recommended dish at Dolphin Taverna: Bekri-Meze or Stifado.
Boulis Taverna, Lakones
The owners of this taverna are warm-hearted, friendly and so welcoming, which is one of the reasons we decided to try it. They just drew us inside with their big smiles and friendly nature. Situated in the mountain-side village of Lakones, just above Paleokastritsa, it has one of the most breathtaking views and some of the best food we have tasted in Corfu, making this one of the best places to eat in our opinion. What’s more, the food is all traditional and home-cooked by Spyros and Elena with homemade bread and wine to match.
7th Heaven Cafe, Logas Beach, Peroulades
If you read my post on the best beaches in Corfu, you’ll know how much I love Logas Beach, and this cafe is one of the reasons why. This restaurant enjoys incredible views out to sea, over the unbelievably turquoise water, with stunning cliffs framing the beach either side. 7th Heaven Cafe has a cool, chill-out vibe going on and they make some delicious Pina Coladas! Be sure to check out the Greek Salad and Traditional Dried Bread if you fancy a bite to eat, all while you sit on the swings enjoying the view!

Skalinada Restaurant, Corfu Town Old Town
Corfu Town’s Old Town is a place you should not miss! As a UNESCO World Heritage Site since June 2007, the Old Town is stunning and a joy to get lost in. While you explore the Old Town, make sure you head to Skalinada Restaurant if you want delicious food in beautiful surroundings. Housed in a landmark building built in 1672, the restaurant is extremely quaint and has also been a family-run business since 1842. The restaurant is situated in a tiny paved street with shuttered windows and balconies filled with colourful flowers. The restaurant opens out right onto the street with tables and chairs out in the cobbled walkways. It’s so pretty and the food is great too!
Recommeded dish: The bruschetta here is delicious!
Corfu Dolce, Patisserie Cafe, Lakones
If you’re an ice cream fiend this is the place for you! Another cafe with out-of-this-world views over the bays and cliffs of Paleokastritsa, they serve some of the creamiest ice-cream and most delicious desserts on the island.
Bella Vista Sunset Restaurant, Kaiser’s Throne, Pelekas
Bella Vista Sunset Restaurant is located at the top of the hill in Pelekas, next to the monument, Kaiser’s Throne. While we haven’t eaten here ourselves, we have had drinks here and enjoyed the 360-degree view from the patio.
Elizabeth’s, Doukades
Located in the picturesque village of Doukades, Elizabeth’s Taverna is as traditional as you can get. This tiny taverna is known as one of the best on the island, and while it doesn’t look much, it always delivers on food, quantity and quality! The family that own and run this taverna are extremely friendly and although Elizabeth is no longer well enough to be at the restaurant herself, her daughter and granddaughter keep the family tradition alive with their fantastic cooking and friendly service. This is one of the best places to eat in Corfu, without a doubt.
Recommended dishes: Stifado, Pastitsada or Sofrito
Nereids, Paleokastritsa
Nereids is a pretty restaurant in Paleokastritsa that serves great food in a lovely setting. It is a little more upmarket and is slightly smarter than some of the local family run tavernas. The restaurant is hard to miss, as it is situated right on one of the main corners in Paleokastritsa. The staff at Nereids are always friendly and welcoming and the restaurant has a really nice vibe. In the peak months, Nereids hosts a Greek dancing night which, although very touristy, is still a lot of fun!
Recommended dishes: Bekri Meze or Drunken Chicken.

The Orchard, between Sidari and Peroulades, is great. They grow their own fruit and veg out back or in the trees around the tables. And at night they switch on strings of painted gourd lanterns. Chips really taste amazing and lemon cake is great. Love the spicy pork too.

Romantic Palace in Agios Gordios, family run, grows own produce. Delicious home-cooked Corfiot food, prepared and served by the wonderful Pangalis family.
